As a consultant working for GlobalHealth Education & Training, I created this syllabus template so SMEs entered their syllabus information and I entered the syllabus in the course shell.

Assignment Templates

Sometimes I see that students are struggling not only with the content but also with the way to present their assignments. In this case, case analysis is a new instructional approach for students. I created this template to scaffold their work analyzing the cases.

Course Shell Designs

This video showcases a course design implemented in Moodle. A group of instructional design colleagues and I made the design decisions. I used the institutional color scheme and logo to design the course shell for all hybrid Moodle courses.

The following images present the contrast between course shell and course instructional design before and after my intervention as instructional designer. I designed the course format for Moodle using the university brand colors. I hired a vendor to develop it, although I did develop the icons for weekly units and menus myself. The main changes were
- using Moodle’s native capabilities to highlight the current weekly unit (the university wasn’t using it before this),
- a main course page that showed the topic, date and number of weekly units as links to the actual weekly unit pages, and
- weekly unit pages that showed the objectives, learning materials, learning activities and assessments (when necessary) clearly labeled.

The course on Strategic Assessment & Evaluation requires that students write an evaluation report. They must choose an instructional program or product (IPP) that can be evaluated at all levels of the Kirkpatrick model. Students usually struggle to select an appropriate program and usually choose ones that can only be evaluated up to level 2. I created this flowchart to guide them to examine the program they have they mind to determine whether it is appropriate.

The Advanced Instructional Design course was unusual in that the class as a whole would have a timeline but individual groups had a separate timeline. The purpose of this infographic was to have a visual representation of the deadlines of each group and class.
