Course Materials

Once a course has been designed, faculty has the responsibility of clearly communicating the academic expectations to the students. The documents in this section exemplify the application of message design principles so students have all assignment-related information in one place. They are examples of different types of course materials that I have developed for a variety of courses and contexts. These include syllabi, assignment requirement documents, rubrics and assignment templates.

Syllabi

  • As a consultant working for GlobalHealth Education & Training, I created this syllabus template so SMEs entered their syllabus information and I entered the syllabus in the course shell.

  • This is the syllabus of an Introduction to Instructional Design course.

Assignment Templates

  • Sometimes I see that students are struggling not only with the content but also with the way to present their assignments. In this case, case analysis is a new instructional approach for students. I created this template to scaffold their work analyzing the cases.

Rubrics

  • Rubric that discusses the criteria to evaluate a 21st Century Technology Showcase presentation for an graduate course on Introduction to Educational Technology

  • Rubric that discusses the criteria to evaluate a Reflection Journal for a graduate course on Educational Web Design
